Jadon Sancho has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, committing himself to the German club until 2022.
The 18-year-old England youth international has made a superb impact since joining the Bundesliga club from Manchester City’s academy a year ago.
Sancho has scored one goal and contributed six assists so far this season despite playing just 233 minutes of football in all competitions.
Dortmund announced on their social media feeds on Tuesday afternoon that the teenager had extended his existing deal until June 30, 2022.
Sancho, who scored five times and contributed seven assists in his debut campaign with Dortmund, said: “I am very glad that I decided to change to Dortmund just over a year ago because everything turned out to be true – this city lives football like no other and at Borussia young players are given playing time.
“Here I can develop excellently. I am completely happy and satisfied and proud to be part of this team. Here is something great.”
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: “Jadon Sancho is certainly one of the most exciting players in Europe.
“With the contract extension, we can take account of his very, very positive development.”
