Vice President Namadi Sambo has urged the new Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, to rally around all stakeholders, especially the Peoples Democratic Party stalwarts, to move the state forward and take it to its intended destination.
Speaking on Saturday at the Kaduna State PDP caucus meeting held at the Hassan Katsina House, Kaduna, Sambo said: “All hands must be on deck at this crucial time, to mobilise the needed support for the governor and his administration for the state to achieve greatness.”
The vice president said the PDP has come a long way in the scheme of things as it has constantly maintained its stronghold in the state as well as in the country in general from 1999 to date and had shown impressive performance.
He added that to consolidate on its achievements, the party has set up various policies and programmes as contained in its manifesto.
Sambo further urged the caucus of the party to live up to expectation as their advice is crucial to the stability, success and unity of the party.
He said he was “most pained, deeply saddened and grieved by the loss of a brother, friend, mentor and compatriot,” the former Governor of Kaduna State, the late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, adding that they took solace in the fact that though they loved him, the good Lord, who loved him most, would give his soul eternal rest in His bosom.
He stated that as they mourn their brother and friend, Yakowa, all avenues should be explored to consolidate on the legacies that he left behind and forge a common front for unity, stability, peace and progress in the state.
He assured the people of the state of the continued support of President Goodluck Jonathan towards the attainment of policy initiatives for rapid transformation of the country.
Sambo said the President Jonathan-led Federal Government means well for the Kaduna State as it recently billions of naira on projects in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the PDP in Kaduna State, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga Audu, said the caucus meeting was summoned at the instance of the new leader of the party in the state, the Yero.
Audu noted that the party has recorded success as exemplified by the recent primaries and local government elections and Yero, then the Deputy Governor, was also part of the success.
Audu advised that the bonds of mutual cooperation, which existed under the late Yakowa, should continue to flourish to the benefit of the party.
In a related development, the Niger State Traditional Council, led by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, paid a condolence visit to Sambo on the death of Yakowa and prayed Allah to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
