Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has appreciated the contributions of the Northern Elders Council towards nation building.
The Vice President made this remark on Saturday at his Aguda House residence, Presidential Villa, Abuja, when a delegation of the NEC, led by its Chairman and elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, paid him a courtesy visit as well as felicitate with him on his 60th birthday anniversary.
Sambo, while expressing his heartfelt delight with the visit, thanked them for their support to the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan-led administration as it delivers on its people oriented Transformation Agenda.
Vice President Sambo also lauded their untiring efforts at fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
He enjoined them not to relent on their efforts.
Earlier, Yakasai acknowledged the loyalty and support of the Vice President to President Goodluck Jonathan and the commendable leadership role he has exhibited as the leader of the North.
They assured him that they would continue to support the administration as well as his good self towards national progress.
They wished him a happy birthday on his 60th anniversary and many happy returns.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Chairman of the Council, Senator Saidu Umar Kumo (Garkuwan Gombe); elder statesman, Ambassador Hassan Adamu; the Secretary to the council, Chief John Mankilik; the Public Relations Officer, Ambassador Yusuf Mamman; as well as Hajiya Aisha Aliyu Gusau.
