Men of the Ogun State police command have arrested one Lucky Otuonye, who organized armed robbers to rob the shop where he is working as a salesman.
Otuonye and two other suspects, Chinedu Peter and Matthew Igwe, were arrested on Tuesday following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago Iwoye division, CSP Paul Omiwole, that robbers had invaded Abuking Electronic Shop at Olopomerin area of Ago Iwoye.
After receiving the distress call, CSP Omiwole and his men swiftly moved to the scene, but the robbers, who stabbed the salesman on his left hand, had escaped with a 32-inch LG plasma television.
Otuonye was quickly taken to hospital for treatment while all the adjoining stations in the area were alerted to be on the lookout for the fleeing suspects.
Some hours after, members of hunters group saw the two men with a plasma television in Awa Ijebu, and they quickly informed the police, who promptly arrested them in Awa Ijebu.
They were later taken to Ago Iwoye where they confessed being responsible for the robbery operation, but told the police that it was the salesman who invited them to come and rob the electronic shop.
Lucky Otuonye was then promptly arrested. He has also made a confessional statement.
Recovered from them are one 32-inch plasma television, one Bajaj motorcycle and a knife.
The Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered a thorough investigation into the past activities of the suspects with the view to charging them to court as soon as possible.
