Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has appeared to confirm star player Mohamed Salah has now tested negative for Covid-19 and would join his teammates in training on Monday.

Egyptian international Salah first tested positive for Covid-19 on November 13 while on international duty with Egypt and after partying at his brother’s wedding.

Sportsmail reported on Friday that the pacy forward and compatriot Mohamed Elneny, of Arsenal, would fly back to the UK despite testing positive at the time.

But Klopp indicated Salah would be available for Monday’s training session ahead of the Champions League meeting with Atalanta at Anfield on Wednesday.

He said: “I heard this (that Salah was negative).

“Tomorrow (Monday) we have UEFA testing, he will be in that, he can now train with us.

“There are two tests scheduled in the next two days so he will be tested like all of us.”

Despite his absence against Leicester on Sunday night, Liverpool were comfortable 3-0 winners against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester, who were top before this weekend.

The lively Reds front three – with £45 million summer signing Diogo Jota playing alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino – were excellent throughout.

Jota, 23, has scored in every one of his four league games at Anfield and appears to be gelling superbly with Liverpool’s forwards rather than undermining their chemistry.

Nonetheless Salah’s return to training and potential availability for their European clash against Atalanta in midweek will be a welcome fillip for Klopp’s injury-hit squad.
