Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Chelsea’s Reece James and Manchester City’s Phil Foden have been nominated for the PFA men’s young player of the year award.
Saka’s teammate, Emile Smith Rowe, has also been nominated, along with Crystal Palace’s Conor Gallagher, who spent the 2021-22 season on loan from Chelsea, and Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.
Foden, 22, won the award last year after a stellar campaign with City.
The midfielder was again a crucial figure as Pep Guardiola’s side claimed another Premier League title, making 45 appearances in all competitions while scoring 14 goals and registering 11 assists.
Foden has already claimed the Premier League’s young player of the season award.
Saka, meanwhile, was arguably Arsenal’s player of the season, as a disappointing start to the campaign culminated in them finishing just short of a top-four place.
The 20-year-old scored 11 Premier League goals and provided seven assists, featuring in every game for Mikel Arteta’s side.
James also enjoyed a productive season with Chelsea, despite missing a period through injury.
The 22-year-old had 14 goal contributions in the Premier League while playing right wing-back or right centre-back.
Smith Rowe, 21, was also a crucial part of Arsenal’s good season, scoring 10 league goals and making his debut for the England senior side.
Gallagher headed to Palace for his second top-flight loan spell away from Chelsea, and was a revelation in Patrick Vieira’s midfield.
The 22-year-old scored eight league goals in his box-to-box role.
Villa’s Ramsey had a breakthrough campaign under Dean Smith and then Steven Gerrard.
The academy product firmly established himself as a first-team player, making 34 league appearances and scoring six goals.
