Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first European player to score 90 international goals.
The 34-year-old netted four times in Portugal’s European Championship qualifier against Lithuania on Tuesday night, which means it has taken him a total of 160 games to claim the record.
In fact, Ronaldo’s brace in the Group B tie means that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored against 40 different nations.
He is the only person to achieve such a remarkable feat.
The Juventus forward has scored eight hat-tricks for his country over the years, which includes tonight’s magnificent display against a helpless Lithuania.
He opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a typical finish from the penalty spot, and then scored three goals in the space of 15 minutes to make it 4-1.
Ronaldo’s fourth was by far the most entertaining of the game. Mostly because of the goalkeeper’s horrific error.
