Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Super Eagles’ manager, Gernot Rohr, sensationally revealed that he has already pencilled down the starters when the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finally kicks off.
The German-Franco gaffer said: “Selecting the first team in Russia won’t be a problem as we already have an approach for all the games in our group.
“We only pray our players stay fit till we begin our campaign.
“In football, formation or pattern can only be adopted based on the quality of our team.
“We don’t have a Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo or Amuneke (Emmanuel), so we decided to work and suffer together in our games.
“Our opponents strength will also determine the style or pattern to be adopted.
“We played 4-4-2 formation against Argentina in Krasnodar.
“We discovered Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi played well and also had enough space to play against the South Americans.”
The former Burkina Faso handler also opined that the Super Eagles are pitched against tough teams in Russia, saying a lot of work must be done to put the team in shape ahead of the Mundial.
He said: “We still have a lot of work to do.
“The World Cup is not a tea party.
“We must be ready mentally and physically for it.
“So, we’ll continue to work hard to put the team in top shape.”
