Super Eagles’ head coach, Gernot Rohr, has ordered the duo of Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho to quit Leicester City in order to make the final 23-man list for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Franco-German coach gave this order on Monday on a SuperSport programme: Monday Night Football.
Rohr insisted that his final selection of players for the Mundial would be based on players’ form with their various club sides in Europe.
He said: “My plan is to execute the World Cup with players who are playing regularly with their respective clubs.
“How do you expect a coach to jet out to Russia with average players who lack playing time?
“I do take my time to visit various club side in Europe to beg the coaches to build my players mind towards a great competition like the FIFA World Cup.
“I’m sad the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa lack playing time at Leicester City.
“I and my scout took my time to pay their coach a visit but we realise their case are getting worse.
“I hope they keep fighting for shirt in order to get a playing time or quit the club for better teams who are willing to give them playing time to showcase their talent.”
Iheanacho, who joined the 2016 EPL Champions from Manchester City, has been a bench warmer since joining the Foxes six month ago.
Musa however has been demoted to the Under 23 team at the club.
