The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says it has come to its knowledge mock governorship and House of Assembly elections at Government House Port Harcourt supposedly marred by fighting, crises and snatching of ballot boxes with the intention to present same as evidence at the election petitions tribunal and as documentaries on television stations.
A statement from the office of the state Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah, and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam, said no amount of propaganda employed by the All Progressives Congress can stand and or rewrite the overwhelming statement of the election of the governor-elect, Barrister Nyesom Wike, his deputy and all the victorious PDP House of Assembly candidates by the Rivers State people in the April 11 elections adjudged by even independent observers as very fair and credible.
The PDP, the chairman remarked, is not unaware of the evil plot of the APC to distort this fact of history as a last minute effort to turn around their mass rejection by the Rivers State people at the April polls.
It has also been established, according to Obuah, that APC is doling out irresistible amounts of money to presiding officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission across the units and wards in the state to write reports against the election.
He said: “We therefore wish to use this medium to draw the attention of Rivers people who have spoken through their mandate to such APC’s scheming, enjoining them to shun the enticement and also to bring such to the notice of the general public as well as the electoral body, INEC, and the law enforcement agencies, this most devilish and undemocratic ploy to subvert the course of justice that has been the APC’s stock in trade.
“This evil must not be allowed to stand before the sacred temple of justice.”
