The House of Representatives seems set to issue a warrant of arrest on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele; Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, and 54 others for failing to appear before its Committee on Public Accounts.
This hint is contained in the report of the committee.
The report states that “All Chief Accounting Officers of the 54 government agencies that refused appearance to defend their positions during the Public Hearing without any written reason should be issued warrant of arrest to compel their appearance to respond to the matter within a week in line with Section 89 (d) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended).”
It listed the affected agencies to include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Niger Delta Development Corporation (NDDC), and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Others whose chief executive officers are to be issued warrant of arrest are Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited, Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, Pipeline and Products Marketing Company Limited, Duke Oil Company Inc., West Africa Gas Limited, Nidas Marine Limited, Hyson (Nigeria) Limited, Nigerian Gas Company, National Engineering and Technical Company, National Petroleum Exchange, NNPC Pensions Limited, Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company, and Port Harcourt Refining Company.
Others are CEOs of NNPC Retail Limited, Integrated Data Service Limited, National Petroleum Investment & Management Services (NAPIMS), Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Abuja, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Abuja, National Bureau of Statistics, Abuj, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (National Integrated Power Project, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Abuja
