The Nigeria Police on Friday said the recruitment exercise approved by President Muhammadu Buhari was yet to commence.
The statement by the Force Headquarters followed the sudden surfacing of a website and link where would-be recruits have been asked to apply for the filling of the 10,000 positions approved by Buhari.
The development came less than 48 hours after the presidential approval.
A statement on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu, said the “recruitment into the Force is yet to commence”.
Ojukwu said the modalities for the recruitment are being worked out with the Police Service Commission and would be announced in due course.
He added: “The general public is hereby warned to beware of online fraudsters who may take advantage of the recruitment information to defraud them of their hard earned money.
“The Nigeria Police Force will adequately advertise on all forms of media (Televisions, Newspapers, etc) when the recruitment commences. You can also visit the Police website on www.npf.gov.ng for necessary information.”
