The Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by Governor Jonah Jang has called on the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to make his obligation to the nation as top priority.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, signed by the Administrator of the NGF Secretariat, Osaro Onaiwu.
According to the statement, the forum advised Emefiele to stay faithful to the roles and functions of his job.
It advised him to be conscious of those who might want to use their relationship with him for personal gain rather than for collective good.
It stated that the governors of the forum looked forward to working with the new bank chief and expressed the hope his vision for the apex bank would encourage fiscal responsibility.
The statement said: “‘We hope he will usher in an era that will enhance the growth of small and medium scale enterprise through policies that will encourage lending to this sector by commercial banks.”
The NGF urged Nigerians, and those in the relevant sectors in particular, to support the new CBN governor in his new role to ensure monetary stability for the common good of the nation.
