The Plateau State chapter of the Universal Basic Education Board in conjunction with ProjectWatch have adopted mechanisms aimed at addressing numerous challenges facing basic education in Plateau State.
The chapter during the inauguration of a Technical Working and Monitoring Group for the Plateau State Universal Primary Education Board, was apparently disturbed by the spate of fallen standard of education in Nigeria that seems to have defied all solutions.
The Technical Working and Monitoring Group for the Plateau State Universal Primary Education Board comprises of various agencies such as the state-based NGOs, UNICEF, World Bank, CSOs, UNDP, Jica, USAID and GIZ among others who will serve as foot soldiers in the localities.
Performing the inauguration ceremony of the group at the board headquarters in Jos, the Executive Chairman of Plateau State Universal Basic Education, Prof. Mathew N. Sule, called for support from all the stakeholders to change the fortune of basic education in the state.
Sule added that the initiative is borne out of the desire of government and in line with the philosophy of Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State to support and transform the education sector in the state.
Sule commended UBEC, non state actors and various stakeholders for supporting PSUBEB in carrying out her statutory responsibilities, stressing that the introduction of the ICT education to the board would enhance effective monitoring and augmentation of government’s efforts, even as he expressed confidence that the TMG would add impetus to the desire of the government towards ensuring a qualitative education at the foundation level.
