President Bola Tinubu has commended the management of the University of Ilorin for the prudent management of available resources, saying he is thrilled with the number of completed projects in the institution.

This was revealed in a statement on Thursday by Kunle Akogun, Director of Corporate Affairs of the university.

Akogun said the President gave the commendation while inaugurating 15 newly completed projects in the institution.

He stated that the projects inauguration was the climax of Unilorin’s 2023 convocation, which was performed on behalf of the President by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu.

Akogun listed that the projects as the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences building, Advancement Centre building and Department of Anatomy building.

Others he said were the Extension of University Clinic, Department of Chemical Engineering Building, Faculty of Engineering 400-seater capacity studio and Faculty of Engineering 500-seater capacity lecture theatres.

He explained that there was also the construction of four bedroom apartment and perimeter block wall fence, asphalt overlay on the existing road from the University gate to the Senate Building phases one and two, among others.

He quoted the President as saying that the projects were beautifully executed, while congratulating the Unilorin Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, for ensuring that the projects met quality standards.

Tinubu advised that the edifices, especially the laboratories, should be put to full use to attract university grants.

Earlier, the vice-chancellor said: “Research and Innovation are the lifeblood of the University of Ilorin.

“The University currently has a total of 36 patents with the Federal Government, which makes the university one of the highest contributing institutions to patency in Nigeria.”

Egbewole promised not to rest on his oars in the University’s thirst for greatness.
