Prof. Bashiru Raji, the immediate past Chairman, University of Ilorin Computer Based Test Centre, has been appointed as Pro-Chancellor and acting Head of the Governing Council of Crown-Hill University, Ilorin, Kwara State.
This was contained in a bulletin of the Unilorin by Abiodun Bada, Secretary to Crown-Hill University Council, on Monday.
It said Raji, a soil scientist of repute, was the immediate past president of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria and of the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture.
The publication stated that Raji was also a former Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State.
Bada explained that the appointment was sequel to a meeting held on September 13, 2022 by the university’s Board of Trustees, which took into consideration Raji’s “selfless and enviable contribution to education and human development in Nigeria”.
The bulletin said: “Given your track record of integrity and excellence in whatever sphere you have found yourself, most especially your performance as a member of the Governing Council of the Crown-Hill University.
“It is our sincere belief that your appointment as the Acting Chairman of the Governing Council of Crown-Hill University will bring unparalleled positive development that will place the young but promising institution among the best private universities in Nigeria.”
It stated that while responding to his appointment, Raji pledged to reposition the university to take its rightful place among the committee of universities in Nigeria.
He assured the BOT that he would work with all stakeholders to ensure that the institution attained academic excellence and impactful research in its immediate community.
