The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has widened his margin of winning in Benue State by clinching 12 of 19 Local Government Areas already declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the election results were declared by various Collation Officers for the local government councils in Makurdi on Monday.
The results showed Abubakar leading in Ukum, Opokwu, Guma, Ogbadibo, Gwer West, Buruku, Logo, Agatu, Apa, Ado, Obi and Gwer East LGAs.
Abubakar’s closest rival, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, is trailing behind with seven local councils.

The local government areas yet to be declared are Vandeikya, Kwande, Gboko and Katsina-Ala.
