The envisaged improvement in power supply due to the privatisation of the sector notwithstanding, the Presidential Villa, popularly called Aso Rock, is planning to spend N45.8 million to fuel generators in the residences of President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo in 2014.
The details of the budget recently laid before the two Chambers of the National Assembly by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, shows that the entire State House will spend N8,739,307,625 billion in 2014.
Also, the breakdown shows that the total personnel cost is N1,503,284,957 billion, while overhead is N3,535,371,566 billion.
Recurrent expenditure has been put at N5,038,656,523 billion while the vote for capital projects is N3,700,651,102 billion.
The Office of the President will spend N2,995,106,500 billion as overhead while that of the Vice President will be a paltry N461,726,691 million.
According to the budget details for the offices of the President and Vice President, the generator in the residence of the President will gulp an average of N2 million fuel monthly, totalling N33,476,963 million.
For the residence of the Vice President, the generator will gulp an average of N1 million monthly, totalling N11,885,053 million for 2014.
