Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has enjoined Muslims and
Nigerians in general to pray for the country to enable it overcome its current security challenges.
In a goodwill message to Muslims in the state in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebration, the governor called for prayers and vigilance on the part of Nigerians, noting that it was necessary to overcome the security challenges facing the country.
According to Uduaghan, if the security problems were resolved, Nigeria and Nigerians would be better positioned to achieve their goals of peace, unity and progress and thereby enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the citizenry.
He said: “I call on all Deltans and Nigerians in general to use the
celebration of Eid-el-Fitri to pray for the country to overcome the
security challenges facing it.
“It is only when peace reigns that Muslims and adherents of other
religions can contribute to the social and economic development of the country.”
Besides, Governor Uduaghan urged the Muslim Ummah to show love for
others and live a life of sharing and caring, stressing that in line
with the gospel of love and peace preached by Islam, Muslims and
indeed all Nigerians should remain steadfast in their public and
private lives.
He commended Muslims in the state for their unflinching support for
his administration through prayers, counsel and robust participation
in governance and assured them that his administration will not
disappoint the people of the state.
In particular, the governor said that the government was committed to
the goal of improving the standard of living of the people, especially through the execution of projects and policies that will impact positively on their lives.
