Ini Umotong is celebrating after landing an international call-up for Nigeria and helping to fire Pompey Ladies into a cup final.
The prolific striker scored twice as the Blues beat Poole Town 7-0 on Sunday in the semi-final of the Hampshire FA Challenge Cup.
That came after she was named in a 36-strong squad to attend a training camp for Nigeria.
The news caps a great time for Umotong who has enjoyed a sensational season so far with Pompey Ladies.
She said: “It’s always been my dream to play international football.
“I was so excited when I got the call. So happy.
“It will be a great experience.
“I have got an official invite for the one-month camp.
“It looks like I will go for two weeks of it. It will be the second two weeks because I’m studying at university.
“The camp starts on Sunday and runs until March 22.”
The 36 players selected for the camp will be aiming to make an impression for the 11th All-Africa Games qualifiers, the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals.
Umotong’s two goals against Poole took her amazing tally to 20 in 12 matches for the Blues.
Victory ensured a place in the final against rivals Southampton Saints.
Umotong opened the scoring in the third minute, catching the Poole defence flat and lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
The striker doubled her tally with Pompey’s second on 17 minutes, slotting the ball inside the post.
She netted her second after a slick team move to complete the 7-0 success.
“It’s exciting to be through to the final,” added Umotong.
“The season in general is going really well.”
Meanwhile, Pompey Ladies travel to Copsewood (Coventry) in the FA Women’s Premier League southern division on Sunday.
