The demand for x-rated content online and the nation’s growing porn industry has increased in recent years.
In the United States, the porn industry is estimated to generate up to $10 billion, according to the National Research Council Report, 2002.
However, there is no official record for Nigeria.
Our Entertainment Editor, Joy Bakare, posed as an applicant after the Managing Editor of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, shared an online advertisement for porn movie actors in Lekki, Lagos State.
The advertisement read: “Urgently needed
“10 females and 20 males
“For Porn work
“In Lekki, Lagos State
“Please meet with the following requirements
“Muscular or athletic built
“Age 18 and up
“Must not be camera shy
“Must be easy to work with
“Must have previous experience in Adult Movie Industry
“Payment is from 100 per scene
“Female: Must be good in sucking dick
“Male: Must be good in sex and sucking of pussy.”
Intrigued, our Correspondent sent a message to the number on the flier to inquire more about advert.
After about two days, the number responded, stating that each applicant should pay the sum of N5,000 for registration.
The response read: “The registration will close on the 3rd of April.
“The interview is on the 15th of April @ 23, Diamond Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Festac, Lagos State.
“We pay per film, with face mask 100,000.
“Without face mask 200,000.
“We don’t owe, we shoot like 3/4videos in a week.
“We pay after the film shooting, either by cash or transfer.
“But you must be loyal, trustworthy and friendly.
“When you are ready to pay for the registration, you will get the account number. (Registration fee #5,000.)
“After the payment sends ur information …like full name, age, pic, tribe, Location, Marital status, height.”
In 2019, Edet Mareme, an adult entertainer, told Business Insider SSA that porn stars can make up to between $3,000 to $10,000 a month, depending on the role.
Mareme said:”In a month, porn star can make from $3,000 to $10,000 and more.
“Girls are paid more than their male counterparts in the industry.
“A woman can decide to go into porn acting and stop after a while and go and marry.
“Nobody can stop you.”
