No fewer than eight persons were killed as violence rocked Rivers and Ondo States in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Two of those killed in Rivers State were beheaded.
According to available information, the two persons killed in Ondo State were shot dead as hoodlums made to snatch ballot boxes in Oba-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Six persons were killed by gunmen in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State during the elections, with two beheaded.
One of the victims, Micheal Abedinigo, who is said to be from Upatabo, was stabbed to death at Akinima, headquarters of Ahoada West LGA of Rivers State by suspected thugs.
Dynamites were also said to have been deployed by thugs in Buguma and Isiokpo.
The dynamites were reportedly thrown into people’s homes.
