The Chairman emeritus of Daar Communications Limited, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has said shooting did not take place in Auchi, Edo State during Saturday’s presidential election on his orders, as reported in the media.
Dopkesi said in a statement on Thursday that what happened in Auchi was an attempt by some youths, allegedly of the All Progressives Congress, to cause trouble in the area, which necessitated some people to make distress calls to him.
He said he called on relevant security agencies in the area to provide adequate security and protect the lives and property of the people, adding that when he arrived at the area, he never stepped out of his vehicle.
He said: “There was never a time that the police and soldiers beat any woman or shoot at anyone. I strongly commend the swift intervention of the brigade commander and the soldiers who maintained peace in the whole of Edo North, in spite of logistics and material challenges.”
