The Ebonyi State Police Command has undertaken to give special attention to the four major violence flash points in the State during the Saturday governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The Police Commissioner in the State, Awosola Awotunde, revealed this on Thursday while briefing newsmen on the level of the Command’s preparedness for the election.
Awotunde, who said the Police would take advantage of the established Inter security Agency to fully collaborate with other security institutions for prompt response to threats, warned trouble makers to desist or relocate as the State would be too hot for them.
He assured of maximum security before, during and after the elections and urged the public to turn out enmasse to vote for their choice candidates without fear, adding the Police in the State had adequate manpower to handle any possible uprising.
The Commissioner also released to the public six emergency mobile numbers.
These are: 07064515001, 07034232125, 07033612254, 08171668684, 08078859027 and 09026452939.
Awotunde further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, journalists, other monitoring groups and observers to conduct themselves within the ambit of the law.
Recall that isolated cases of electoral violence were witnessed in some parts of the State prior to and during the February 23, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections, especially in Izzi, Ikwo, Ezza-North, Afikpo South and Ohaukwu Local Government Areas, leading to loss of lives.
