Facts have emerged that 79 serving senators lost their bid to make it to eighth National Assembly, which will kick start on June 4.
However, 31 serving senators in the seventh National Assembly are able to make it to the Upper Chamber.
No fewer than 50 senators failed to clinch the senatorial tickets of their political parties during the primary election, which was held in December.
Investigation revealed that many of the serving senators, mostly from the Northern part of the country, who contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, failed to win the main election, which was held on march 28.
The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark (Benue); Dr. Bukola Saraki (Kwara); Joshua Lidani (Gombe South); Joshua Dariye (Plateau Central); Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba South); and Philips Aduda (FCT) were among those who scaled through from the PDP in the Northern region.
Also, other Senators that scaled through included Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South), Andy Uba (Anambra South), Emanuel Paulker (Bayelsa Central), James Manager (Delta South) Gilbert Nnaji (Enugu East), Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu West) George Sekibo (Rivers East), Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba South), Barnabas Gemade (Benue East), Akume George (Benue West), Ahmad Zannah (Borno Central) and Ali Ndume (Borno South)
In addition, Kabiru Gaya (Kano South), Shaába Lafiagi (Kwara North) Bukola Saraki (Kwara Central) Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Olugbenga Ashafa (Lagos East),Goje Danjuma (Gombe Central) Ajayi Boroffice (Ondo North), Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East), Bukar Baba Ibrahim (Yobe East), Ahmad Lawan (Yobe North), Kabir Garba Marafa (Zamfara Central), Ahmed Rufai Sani (Zamfar West), Olusola Adeyeye (Osun Central), Babajide Omoworare (Osun East) and Bassey Otu.
