The Inspector General of Police Force, Muhammed Abubakar, on Friday insisted that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, was redeployed according to police posting.
Abubakar dismissed the belief that the move had political undertone.
This denial was supported by the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro.
Both men made this denial at the passing out parade of some retired policemen, held at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to Abubakar and Okiro, the force was posed towards training and retraining of its officers in readiness for the forthcoming general election.
The number one policeman also denied that the Rivers State Police boss was redeployed as a result of the political crisis in the state.
The IGP described Mbu’ s redeployment to Abuja as a routine police activity, which is aimed at strategising and repositioning the force.
Abubakar said that the passing out parade was an honour to police officers, who had dedicated long years of service to the force.
Okiro added: “Mbu was not redeployed as a result of any political crisis in Rivers.
“Mbu was also not redeployed to Abuja as a result of any petition received by to the police service commission.”
