Ever since the Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, aka Evans, claimed that his mother knew he was into crime, but didn’t support his criminal activities, a lot of people had been dying to speak with her.
Just as journalists are frantically searching for, the police revealed that the woman, Chinwe, who fled Anambra State, on hearing that her son had been arrested, had been tracked down to Bayelsa State.
The location came barely 24 hours after her estranged husband, Stephen, and her brother, denied knowing her whereabouts.
The fleeing is erection a mighty building in her village, before she had to bolt. She was led to have told members of the community that the building belonged to a relative in Port Harcourt.
A police source said: “Evans mother ran to Balyesa after her son was arrested. We have tracked her down, but we are yet to arrest her. We have also discovered that Evans’ wife is a sister to a former kidnapper in Anambra State.”
The officer in charge of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, who led in the hunt and arrest Evans, said: “Evans almost got away with his crimes. No criminal has given me this kind of headache in my career. Not even the case of Godogodo or Vampire. I hardly sleep. Even when I’m in the toilet, I would be analysing over 100 numbers, checking out those he had conversations with. What we have gathered is like a book now. But the case was a hard nut to crack until we found something interesting in one particular number. Out of the all the phone lines, it was the only number that he was using to communicate with family members in Nnewi. We followed up on that, and he was nailed.”
