No fewer than 5,800 applicants from Kano State are currently undergoing screening for the Police recruitment exercise in Kano, an official has said.
The Deputy Inspector of Police in charge of North West Zone, Maigari Dikko, disclosed this while inspecting the recruitment exercise in Kano at the Command’s Police Officers Mess on Wednesday.
He said a total of 5, 800 applicants applied for the Police recruitment in Kano state.
He said the recruitment followed the approval from President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that it is transparent ‘we want to tell the public and every Nigerian that the recruitment is on.
Dikko said: “We gave the applicants a dedicated website to fill all the necessary forms from each state and get qualified applicants, which a panel was set up comprising of Nigeria Police Force, Police Service Commission, Federal Character Commission.
“Others are Joint Admission and Matriculation Board and other Stakeholders, and in each state a panel is set up not less than the Commissioner of Police, some Deputy Commissioner of the state.”
According to him, the Nigeria Police Force had been mandated to recruit a total number of 6,000 applicants, we have a total number of 133, 325 applicants now, so there must be recruitment exercise to get the very best at the end.
Dikko said this is the first time JAMB was included in the recruitment exercise in order to make it transparent for everybody to come and see so that there would not be accusation at the end of it.
He commended the Kano State Command for its transparency in the exercise, adding that the control is perfect and excellent because there is no room for security lapses.
The DIG urged the applicants to prepare their mind, because police job is not an easy job and warned them not to bribe anyone with money.
He also called on the applicants to obey what they are asked to do, especially when they are asked to remove their shirt to examine their check.
Dikko said: “This is part of the exercise to bring the very best of the Nigeria Police Force.”
NAN reports that the AIG Zone 1, Dan Bature, Kano Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, accompained the DIG to the venue of the recruitment exercise.
