The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers in the metropolis.
The command Public Relations Officer, El-Mustapha Sani, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Sokoto on Saturday.
Sani said the suspects were arrested at Bazza area of the metropolis, sequel to “sustained surveillance and intelligence sharing”.
Sani said: “The suspects are being detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department and they are making useful information.
“The command will conduct thorough investigations to nab their conspirators and unravel the mystery behind their nefarious activities.
“The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abdulkadir, will provide more details next week.”
NAN reports that the state Police Command had on March 27 confirmed the kidnap of two businessmen – Labbo Giyawa and Murtala Dantata – by some unknown gunmen.
The Command’s spokesman said the two men were kidnapped at Giyawa, Goronyo Local Government Area of the state.
Sani said: “I can confirm the abduction of the two businessmen on Sunday night (March 26), at about 10pm.
“They were seized by some gun-wielding men, while they were reportedly sleeping in the frontage of their houses.”
He confirmed their release by the abductors on March 30.
Similarly, four officials of Isa Local Government Area of the state were kidnapped by unknown gunmen, but later regained their freedom after the alleged payment of ransom.
