The Police Command in Enugu State says it has begun investigation into the alleged killing of a middle-aged man after he fought with his neighbour in Amagu Okpanku community in Aninri Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu.
Amaraizu said the incident occurred on February 1 at about 2 p.m.
He said that the deceased identified as Ajah Sampson was confirmed dead after he sustained various injuries from a machete allegedly used on him by his neighbour, Chibuzor Ivoke.
He said: “It was gathered that on Feb.1, both persons had allegedly engaged themselves in a serious violent fight over a yet-to-be established issue/issues which later left both of them with various degrees of matchete cut on their neck, heads and ears.
“They were consequently rushed to Afikpo Mater Hospital for medical attention by family members where the doctor on duty later confirmed one of the victims, Sampson Ajah, dead.’’
According to the police spokesman, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending conclusion of investigation.
