The Police in Kano have intercepted 189 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp worth N6.6 million.
This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Magaji Majiya and made available to newsmen in Kano on Monday.
He said: “On September 22 base on tip-off and raid conducted at Tudun Wazirchi and Badawa Quarters Kano, 189 parcels of Indian hemp were intercepted.
“The Indian hemp was concealed inside palm kernel shells to hide its ordour.”
Similarly, he said the command had arrested four suspected armed robbers for allegedly robbing a resident of his motor vehicle.
Majiya said that on September 22, at about 1p.m. a gang of robbers attacked a resident of Masaka Town in Nasarawa State ,where they disposed him of valuables and a Mercedes ML350 car with registration number ABC 554AY.
He said the suspects are: Kenneth Adam, Ali Jafaru, Abdulkadir Shaka and Aliyu Audu.
He said that the arrest was made by the command’s detectives from State Anti-robbery Squad on the same date at about 4.30 p.m and intercepted the said vehicle along Hadeja Road, Kano with the suspects.
According to him, investigation on the case was in progress with a view to arresting the remaining accomplices and charges them to court.
In another development, the Command also arrested two men: Musbahu Usman and Nura Husain who allegedly conspired and trailed an innocent person from bank.
The PPRO said that on September 19, at about 3 p.m. the duo trailed an innocent person from a bank along Bank Road, Kano after withdrawing the sum of N500,000.
Majiya added: “They attacked him along Audu Bako Way while boarding a tricycle but they were arrested while the money was recovered from the suspects.”
