The Delta State Police Command has arrested and detained AP/NO.270433 Inspector Afang Luke for accidentally shooting to death his colleague: F/NO.413029 Corporal Chinonso Okafor, while both were trying to arrest some fleeing suspected cultists.
The Eagle Online learnt that both policemen were part of raider teams chasing after some suspected cultists.
When the cultists sighted the team, they scampered, while the police pursued.

Determined to catch them at all costs, Luke was alleged to have opened fire, but rather than nail any of the fleeing suspects, the bullet got Okafor on the back.
He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The incident happened on January 16, 2024 at about 4:30pm.
Police sources stated: “Two teams of Raiders Tactical Squad while on routine patrol at Mosogar intercepted some boys suspected to be cultists, who took to their to heels on sighting the policemen.

“The victim was immediately rushed to Central Hospital Sapele, where he was confirmed dead.
“Inspector Afang Luke is currently detained at Sapele Division, while the two suspects arrested, names yet unknown, are also detained at Sapele Division.”
