The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three car snatchers.
The suspects were arrested by detectives attached to Karewa Division and Special Anti -Robbery Squad of the Command.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje on Saturday 19, 30-year-old Mustapha Ismail, a resident of Zango ward in Yola North Local Government, was caught on September 16 while driving a stolen car, a Toyota Starlet.
He allegedly stole the car with registration number MDG 505 AA parked inside Jimeta Ultra modern market.
Twenty-year-old Zaradeen Adamu of Demsawo in Yola North Local Government and Salihu Mohammed, 25, of Ngurore in Yola South Local Government were also arrested while in possession of a stolen vehicle with registration number SB 509 DBT along Ngurore Road.
The SARS officers had responded to a distress call by a resident of Demsawo whose vehicle was stolen in his house. The officers recovered the vehicle being driven away by the duo of Adamu and Muhammed.
The Command reassured members of the public that it had deployed proactive mechanism for intelligence led-policing and crime-fighting measures to beef up security across the state in order to clamp down on car snatchers and other criminal elements.
According to Nguroje, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju, equally affirmed the command’s commitment in preventing and detecting crimes as well as forestalling any act that may likely cause security breach.
He added that the command was also working in close synergy with sister security agencies in its ongoing effort to strengthen security in the state.
