The Lagos State Police Command has detained three dogs and their owner, Salisu Mustapha, over the death of a security guard at Pinnock Estate, Lekki, Lagos State.
The owner of the dog had left them unrestrained, hence the attack on the security guard and his subsequent death on November 5, 2024.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command and a Superintendent of Police, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on his X account.
In several posts accompanied by videos, Hundeyin allayed the fears of Nigerians that Mustapha was going to walk away free and that the dogs would be badly treated.

In one of the posts, the Police Public Relations Officer showed where the gods were restrained.
He said the matter was being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department, adding that the Command’s Commissioner, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, has assured the public of a thorough investigation.
