The Rivers State Police command on Friday confirmed the release of the abducted former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Okey Wali.
Wali was seized by unknown gunmen on October 11 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
DSP Ahmad Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer of the command, said in Port Harcourt that Wali was freed by his captors on Thursday night.
“Mr. Okey Wali was freed last night (Thursday),” Muhammad said.
He, however, refused to disclose if any ransom was paid before Wali was released and if any arrest had been made.
Meanwhile, Augustine Alege, the President of the Nigeria Bar Association, also confirmed that Wali had been freed by his captors.
Alegeh said in a statement that their former president was hale, hearty and in high spirit.
