Policemen have closed in on the kidnappers of the students and staff of the Nigeria Turkish International College in Isheri, Ogun State, The Eagle Online has learnt.
This was just as the kidnappers on Sunday made a demand of N1.2 billion for their victims to be released.
It was gathered that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed several units of crack investigators to track the kidnappers and free the abducted staff and students unharmed.
Top on the list of crack detectives deployed for the operation is the IGP’s Special Investigative Team, The Eagle Online was told.
Eight persons were taken away by the kidnappers who struck on Friday at about 9pm.
They were made up of three students, two non-teaching Turkish staff, a cook and two other Nigerian staff.
The kidnappers on Sunday demanded for a ransom of N300 million for each of the Turkish staff and N100 million each for the students and other staff, making the amount N1.2 billion.
However, information available to The Eagle Online has it that the police operatives have a lead that could aid in quickly nailing the kidnappers.
The CCTV in the female hostel from which the kidnapped staff and students were taken had been successfully downloaded and analysed.
The CCTV captured all the activities of the kidnappers, though they all wore masks.
One of them was equally said to be wearing a skirt, leaving an impression that a female was involved in the kidnapping.
However, a security source told The Eagle Online that the analysis of the CCTV footages revealed the person in skirt is a man.
The kidnappers, said to be about 20 in number, got access to the school by breaking in through the fence.
