Detectives in the Sagamu Divisional Office of the Ogun State Police Command have commenced the search for a community chief and 10 other suspected hoodlums for allegedly threatening the life of a middle-aged woman.
It was learnt that the Divisional Police Officer, Agunbiade Okikiolu, had directed detectives to begin the manhunt for Chief Adeyemi Abidoye, who allegedly invaded Abosede Funmilayo Jegede’s home with 10 suspected thugs.
According to a reliable source, the men threatened her for allegedly hiding her sister, Simiat Adeyanju, believed to be Abidoye’s alleged lover of many years.
The divisional office explained in its interim investigation report that the search followed a complaint lodged by Jegede, who lives in Sabo area of Sagamu.
Okikiolu, a Chief Superintendent of Police, added that following this threat, detectives have been deployed to apprehend Abidoye and his alleged accomplices.
The reliable source said Abidoye had planned to forcefully marry Adeyanju, who had fled into hiding following the chief’s threat that failure to accede to his demand would lead to harm on her.
The senior officer said in the interim report: “On 11th September, 2020, one Jegede Abosede Funmilayo ‘f’ came to the station at about 1400hrs and reported that one Adeyemi Abidoye ‘m’ from notorious Ijagba Area Sagamu forcefully entered into her compound at above address at an odd hour, with his cohorts numbering about ten demanding for the whereabouts of Smiat Adeyanju ‘f’.”
He stated that the hoodlums, who followed Abidoye to Jegede’s house, were armed with dangerous weapons like short locally made pistol, cutlasses and criminal charms.
“She also added that they vehemently told her that she should relocate from her house and all her kindred or they will all be wiped out without further delay,” Okikiolu stated.
He maintained that policemen had started aggressive watch of Jegede’s home after the incident to protect her, but added that no arrest had been made, while investigation was still in progress.
The senior police officer added: “It is also pertinent to advice the complainant to be security conscious by relocating to alternative residence or city, with her relatives, particularly Simiat Adeyanju ‘f’ and avoid night movements as police intensify investigation in searching for the culprits.”
