Police operatives attached to Ikorodu Division of the Lagos State Police Command and local vigilantes on Sunday April 19, 2021 arrested one Fatai Kalejaiye, male, 25, while initiating one Kolapo Ayeobasan, male, 20, into a cult.
Kalejaiye, during interrogation, confessed to being a member of Eiye Confraternity.
Similarly, the Police Public Relations Officer in the command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said police operatives attached to Ipakodo Division, Ikorodu, arrested four suspected cultists: Sunday Mesagan, 16; Damilade Matiminu, 24; Oladimeji Orimoloye, 19, and Akinmoye Emmanuel, 24.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by one Temidire Ogunbajo, of No 4, Abejoye Street, Majidun, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, that some suspected armed cultists invaded her house and attacked her and other residents of the Majidun community, Ikorodu, on 16th April, 2021 at 8.30am.
Police operatives together with local security operatives in Ikorodu then swung into action and arrested the suspects one after the other between 16th April and 18th April, 2021.
Items recovered from them include one chisel, one cutlass, broken bottles, charms and some other dangerous weapons.
The police spokesperson said the suspects will be taken to the command’s Special Squad for further investigation. The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has also ordered that the fleeing members of the gang be apprehended by all means so as to cause them to face the full wrath of the law.
