The police operatives attached to the Zonal Intervention Squad of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos have arrested two suspected fraudsters in Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State for duping a man of N5 million.
The suspects – Ahmed Fatai Seun and Joseph Olufemi Adaramola – were picked up on November 3 in Ijebu Igbo with a live snake and some fettish items used for their criminal deals.
One of their victims (name withheld) was tricked into the “game” after he bought local Agbo (concoction) in Ikeja Lagos State from one man who was later known to be the principal suspect, Ahmed.
The victim was put on telephone call with one man who asked him to meet one ‘baba’ in Ijebu Igbo for special prayers for prosperity, which he (complainant) did.
The said baba arranged the prayers and billed him N75 million for the special prayer, but he had paid N5 million before he gained his consciousness and reported to the police.
The police operatives swung into action and arrested the suspects in Ijebu Igbo.
t was then discovered that the said baba the complainant met in Ijebu Igbo is the same Ahmed who sold concoction in Ikeja to him.
Ahmed, the police said on Sunday, is always adorned like an old man to dupe Nigerians.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that the suspects be charged to court without delay.
Ali has however advised Nigerians to be mindful and beware of those individuals who do not have known or legitimate means of livelihood as they could be dangerous.
He affirmed that the present leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, is keen on enlightening innocent Nigerians not to fall victim of such criminal tricks and dirty antics of criminals who make lives hard for them.
