Following rising cases of insecurity in the country, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested 30 persons suspected to be illegal immigrants in the state.
The suspects were picked from different areas of the state and are presently being detained and interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.
Police authority is insisting that those without valid documents are going to be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service.
It was heard that the police embarked on the move to rid the state of illegal immigrants as they might be involved in criminal activities.
Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Ngozi Braide, confirmed the arrest.
Briade explained that 30 suspected illegal Immigrants were picked in Isheri and Ikoyi.
She said that the suspects are already being screened by the police.
She added: “Those who have genuine document will be allowed to stay, while those who entered the country illegally will be handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for appropriate sanction.
“There is nothing new about the arrest.
“It is a routine police job to cleanse the society of suspected illegality and to protect lives and property.”
