Fresh crisis on Sunday rocked the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
This is no thanks to the forgery allegedly perpetrated by one of the party’s flag-bearers in Delta North Senatorial District.
The candidate, vying for the Aniocha North Constituency for the state House of Assembly, Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, was confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, to have forged the primary election report he presented.
Since the primary election was conducted on November 30 last year, two winners have emerged for the constituency seat.
They are Nwaobi and Prince Uzoma Idaboh.
The duo of Nwaobi and Idaboh have since then been parading different election reports.
They claimed the reports emanated from the Nigeria Police Force.
But the lingering matter was laid to rest on Sunday as a police investigation report dated March 2, 2015, made available to The Eagle Online, which originated from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, DCP Hafiz M. Inuwa, declared the report being paraded by Nwaobi as forged.
The revelation by the police has since caused confusion within the party from the ward level to the state.
DCP Inuwa in the report tagged: Re-Case of Forgery/Alteration, addressed to Prince Uzoma Idaboh’s solicitor (Juri Chambers), categorically said Nwaobi’s purported election report, allegedly signed by one CSP Usman A. Yusuf, the erstwhile DPO of Issele-Uku, had no policy file as S/No SJ: 1800/DTS/OK/VOL.1/13 in the state police command.
DCP Inuwa maintained that the Inspector Admin in charge of Issele-Uku Division, Inspector Madueggunem Seka, AP/NO 125339, was as a result arrested.
He said the cautionary statement made by Seka also contradicted the purported report.
Inuwa’s report read in part: “It is crystal clear that the document titled ‘General Election’ date 30th November 2014, is forged, altered and did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force, Issele-Uku Division, Delta state Police Command.
“Unknown to the Nwaobi (whom he referred to as a suspect), no DPO is authorized to oblige/ issue such request but Commissioner of Police, Delta state. The policy file number in the report as presented by Nwaobi never existed in the records of Nigeria Police Force, Delta state Command.”
