Podolski set for Cologne return

Former Germany star, Lukas Podolski, will return to his boyhood club Cologne but not as a player.
Cologne said on Tuesday after a meeting with the 34-year-old club icon and his agent that both sides will be working on a concept.
The concept is to have him in a yet to be determined role at the club.
“It was agreed to go about a short-term co-operation, as well as a commitment from Lukas in the club after his career ends,” the club said.
Club President Werner Wolf said Cologne “want to make use of his love for FC and his appeal across the world, and be with Lukas as he makes the meaningful and very personal steps after his playing career”.
He said: “Therefore, we will now be in a continuous dialogue.”
Podolski said: “I’m looking forward to planning how I can support FC in the future together with them. Cologne is, was and remains my home and FC is my club.”
He joined Cologne at the age of 10 and played in the first team from 2003 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2012.
The 130-times capped 2014 World Cup winner also had terms at Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Galatasaray and Vissel Kobe.
He is now linked with a return to Turkey as a player as he has had talks with the Antalyaspor club.
