The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter will continue to explore new business avenues for the benefits of its members and the growth of the association.
Kareem Osoba, the Chairman of the association, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Wednesday that it would form part of the members’ capacity building.
Osoba said the entertainment industry had continued to experience an increasing growth in the country despite the lull being experienced in some other sectors of the economy.
He said: “The entertainment industry has continued to record landmark achievements.
“It’s creativity has not been affected by the recession and it has continued to add to the Gross Domestic Product of the country.”
Osoba said the association would also continue to ensure that its members access the various musical experiences within and outside the state.
Osoba said: “We will also explore the opportunities provide by the Information and Communication Technology and the broadcast-media to take music and music-making to schools, community settings and homes.”
Osoba said that the new opportunities to be provided ICT would help musicians from the state to promote their own type of music.
