Pirates on Sunday night abducted four persons on an offshore tug supply vessel and kidnapped four crew members, a report on Monday said.
The attack, which occurred 40 nautical miles off the coast of Bayelsa State, according to the International Maritime Bureau, did not result un death or injury to the crew members.
The spokesperson of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Fidelis Odonna, confirmed the development on Monday.
Odonna said: “We have received report on the abduction of the four expatriate oil workers off the coast of the state in the early hours of Sunday, December 23.
“As we speak, details of the incident are still sketchy.
“However, the command has commenced investigation as we have sent out a team to get to the matter.”
