Pipeline vandals on Thursday killed five operatives of the Nigerian Navy in Arepo area of Ogun State.
The Naval personnel were said to be members of the Anti-Pipeline Vandalism Joint Task Force.
The vandals were said to have laid ambush for the JTF operatives as they responded to a distress call.
However as at press time on Friday, only the corpses of three of the slain officers had been recovered.
It was learnt that the pipeline vandals were on a retaliatory mission after they were, 24 hours earlier, prevented by members of the task force from carrying out their activities in the area.
Members of the task force, made up of operatives of the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, had launched series of attacks on the pipeline vandals in the area, leading to arrests.
