Photographers and Colour Photo Laboratory Owners in Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Kwara, Ekiti and Ogun States have ended their one-month rift over increase in the prices of printing by the members of the two bodies.
Thousands of members of the two aggrieved bodies have been at each others’ throats over increase in the price of printing of picture by the laboratory owners.
The increment was rejected by the photographers and therefore led to closure of companies by the Colour Lab Owners, while the photographers were also forced to travel far in a bid to print and sustain themselves.
While the crisis lasted, elders of the two bodies went round the affected states to discuss with members on the need for dialogue and were able to facilitate a meeting in Ilorin on Friday.
The state executives of the aggrieved bodies under the aegis of the Nigerian Professional Photographers, Videographers Association and the Colour Photo Lab Owners Association of Nigeria from the affected states met in Ilorin on Friday for the first time since they came into existence to resolve the dispute.
After several hours of meeting, the Ondo State Chairman of the Colour Lab Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Kazeem Ayoade, who addressed journalists on behalf of the two bodies, read their resolutions as follows: That the staus quo should remain, to the extent that some states which had already started implementing the new prices should continue while those which were yet to adjust should remain so until after May 20, 2015 when another meeting that will agree on a generally accepted price for all will hold.
That, henceforth, no photographer should harass, intimidate or attack any Colour Lab owners on account of increase in price of printing anymore and that in the event that such happens in the future, such Colour Lab Owner should be reported to the state branch of the association for clarification or sanction.
