Penpushing Media in conjuction with Terre Des Homes (TDH a foreign Non-Governmental Organization) and Child Protection Network is organizing a two-day workshop to train journalists on Child Protection reportage.
The workshop, which is the second edition, is for selected journalists.
It is aimed at motivating a pool of media practitioners to follow the implementation of CORAL project, create a Network of Journalist for Child Protection and create network of journalists who will work together for the protection of children within and outside the country.
A statement from the Management of Penpushing stated further that the workshop is scheduled to hold between from September 25 to 26, 2018 at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State between 8.30am and 3pm.
“The workshop will be carried out in two days. It will be characterized by training session on CORAL project, child protection, child migration and mobility. There will also be group work on CORAL advocacy and communication plan as well as how the planned Network of Journalists for Child Protection can be functional,” the statement said.
The specific objectives include: Improve participants’ knowledge on CORAL project, share the advocacy and communication plan of CORAL project with the participants, gain the attention of media organization to develop topics around the protection of migrant children, improve participants’ knowledge on child migration, child mobility, child rights and the Protective Accompaniment of Children and create a Network of Journalist for Child Protection.
The statement further added that participants are drawn from various media houses such as Television Stations, Radio Stations, Print Media (Newspapers) and Online News platforms, adding that the session will include role of journalists in child protection and child migration, as well as presentation on the protective accompaniment of children and group work on how Journalists for Child Protection and Advocacy Network can strive in Nigeria.
