The Peoples Democratic Party in the South-East on Sunday assured that it would shame its detractors with formidable performance during the forthcoming general elections as would be evidenced in its zonal rally billed to take place on Tuesday in Owerri, Imo State.
The party’s South-East Zonal Chairman, Chief Austin Umahi, gave the assurance while speaking to journalists shortly after the pre-rally meeting of the party leaders in its zonal office in Enugu, preparatory to the zonal rally
Umahi, who refuted alleged division among the party leadership in the zone as being spread in some quarters, noted that the PDP was united more than ever before and organised to deliver an unprecedented rally come Tuesday.
He further debunked the insinuations that some South-East leaders, including Governors, were not supporting the party’s presidential flag bearer, Atikui Abubarkar. describing such as the work of mischief makers.
He maintained that both the Governors and other party leaders have been featuring prominently in PDP rallies across the country, where they have continued to openly declare their commitment to the total victory of the party at all levels.
He warned other political parties to desist from spreading false rumours against the PDP, stressing that leadership was all about score card rather than social media propaganda.
Umahi said: “You can see that the Deputy Senate President was here, all the Governors and candidates, except that of Imo State, who has an issue of delayed flight, were also here.
“That goes a long way to tell you how united and how formidable the South East PDP is.
“And again, it tells you how organized we are.
“I’m sure it never happened in other zones, to have a pre-rally meeting well attended as this.
“Since 1999 to date, South East has remained PDP and Nigerians should be expecting the best ever rally.
“We don’t have any crises at all and for people, who are fabricating crises, we are going to shame them.
“The rumour that some Governors are not with our presidential flag bearer is nothing but cheap propaganda.
“You saw them all here and none of them had ever spoken otherwise.
“It is not a social media affair, it is not propaganda affair.
“It is the result, the score card that matters and very soon, the score card will show.”
All the PDP State Chairmen, other zonal executives and key stakeholders attended the meeting which was held behind closed doors.
