Gwer-West Local Government Area of Benue State was on Saturday held spell bound as supporters of the All Progressive Congress thronged to the UPC Primary School to receive former Governor of Benue State, Chief George Akume, who used to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The APC gubernatorial flag bearer in the state, Dr. Samuel Ortom, among other aspirants, were in Gwer-West for an APC rally where they also received over 3,971 decampees.
In their remarks, they spoke against the leadership style of Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State.
They said Suswam’s style has brought untold hardship to the entire people of the state.
They lamented that it was during the tenure of Suswam that workers are now being owed.
As at the last count, workers in the state were being owed seven months salary.
The Chairman APC in Gwer-West, Tersoo Ayoo, said citizens were totally neglected in the scheme of things and pledged their resolve to queue behind Ortom, a former Minister of State for Industry.
Ayoo added that the resolve is borne out of the conviction that his kinsmen, the Nogov, stood behind the people of Gwer-West during the turbulent period of Fulani marauders.
He called on the people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and be ready to protect their votes during the election.
