After participating in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP local government area congresses, a group under the auspices of Concerned PDP Members in Niger State, led by former Deputy Governor, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu. has raised the alarm that the Senator Hamman Misau-led electoral team has absconded with the results without any explanation.
The Leader of the group made this known on Monday in Minna at a news conference attended by several PDP party members.
Nuhu explained that the congresses held in 19 out of 25 local governments and those that emerged winners have already been sworn-in and have commenced work in their councils.
He said: “On the 5th of September 2020, the Local Government congresses in Niger State held, and all results were announced, collated and all winners were sworn-in and have since resumed as provided in the PDP guidelines for 2020, section 3.4.
“However, with the exception of Agaie, Magama, Munya, Agwara LGAs, where elections didn’t hold and Shiroro LGA, where election held in four out of 15 wards.”
Nuhu added that the concerned members of the PDP are unsure of the intent of Senator Misau and his team members who sneaked out of Minna at 5am of Sunday, leaving behind one of the members of the team, who insisted he will wait to collect all results.
He said: “We make this statement as position of Members of the PDP with full awareness that no amount of treachery, machinations and arm twisting will be allowed.
“They were asked to come and conduct elections, but why are they not in Minna?
“Why did they leave in a hurry without doing what the national secretariat sent them to come and do?”
The chieftains included the former governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Umar Nasko; former Secretary to the State Government in the last PDP administration, Alhaji Ndako Kpaki; former House of Representatives members; and former Commissioners.
Several calls to Senator Misau’s phone number were not answered as it kept saying line busy.
